Autism Society Ventura County Hosts 3/1/12 Free Evening Conference
The Autism Society of Ventura County is excited to announce this FREE one day conference to be held on Thursday, March 1, 2012. There will be 2 sessions which will be held at the Ventura County Office of Education (VCOE) Conference Center in Camarillo.
Session 1
8:00am-12:00pm – “Encountering Autism While On Duty: First Responder Training” for Emergency Personnel. Please click HERE to download the Flyer. [This course is approved for 4 hours of ALS/BLS continuing education credit through the Ventura County EMS Agency (CE Provider ID # 56-0001)].
Session 2
6:00-9:00pm – “Plan Your Autism Emergency” - The free presentation is open to ALL families, educators, and service providers who live or work with those who have Autism. Those in attendance will learn strategies they can implement to help someone with Autism in an emergency should their caregiver become unconscious or unable to respond. The presenter for both sessions, Brian Herritt, is a Consultant for Autism Risk and Safety Management and a police officer with a Southern California agency. Officer Herritt is also the father of a non-verbal child with Autism.
